Samsung Making Waves

It just feels like yesterday that Samsung, in a surprising move, decided to throw their weight behind a brand new mobile OS namely BADA OS, yet here we are with the announcement of the first smartphone to actually run the system.
You have to hand it to Samsung, they took this thing from concept to production in a matter of months, an indication of how fast paced the mobile phone industry is nowadays, and they are due to launch the Phone in the UK in April.
The newly announced Samsung Wave will be the first Handset from the Korean manufacturer that will run BADA OS and it needs to be something spectacular to beat the critics and the naysayers. Hardware wise it is quite a capable beast and isn't short on features. The operating system needs to prove it can handle what is thrown at it from those that have become accustomed to the offerings of other more established brands such as Apple, Microsoft and Google.

The signs are good though with the right kind of developer support being offered in the form of an SDK, documentation and support. Samsung also are aware of their need to tap into the gaming and third party Apps market. With their multi-pronged approach and with the financial muscle, they may just pull this off even though the stakes are high.
There is still space in the market for innovation and good user interface design so we will be keeping a keen eye on this new Wave making smartphone. Check out the video and read the spec below. Somehow I don't think this one is just some, painstakingly contrived, April Fools joke.
